September 28, 2026 – In a recent opinion piece with the CIO magazine, Dan Clarke, President of Truyo, suggests the need for CIO and Legal Teams to come together for better enterprise AI prospects. Dan explains that as AI adoption expands across organizations, effective governance will increasingly depend on collaboration between CIOs and legal teams. CIOs bring visibility into technology, data, vendors, security requirements and emerging shadow AI, while legal teams understand the regulatory, privacy, contractual and litigation risks surrounding those uses. The article argues that neither function has enough visibility to govern AI independently, particularly as AI agents enable nontechnical employees to build workflows outside traditional IT environments. Organizations need shared AI inventories, cross-functional governance committees, risk assessments, documented safeguards and evidence that policies are continuously enforced. Bringing IT and legal together can help businesses scale AI while maintaining oversight as new use cases emerge. Read the full CIO opinion piece by Dan here.
